A little bit mountain girl, a little bit classic rock, and a whole lot of boho-chic, Christy Lea Payne of CLP Jewelry gets the mix just right. Her pieces are rustic and broken-in with lots of natural elements that look perfect piled on. Christy took some time to let us know a little more about herself and the inspirations behind her weathered-elegant line.
Where do you call home?
How was CLP Jewelry born?
I always knew I wanted to do something with my hands. I took a lot of metal smithing classes in college, pottery and welding. Jewelry design was the winner!
How would you describe your design style?
Well-worn and rustic. Like your favorite jeans or leather bag. I hope you will wear and love your clp forever, not just a trendy item. I think it is best layered, one piece is never enough…
Where do you find inspiration?
EVERYWHERE! Walks, travels, friends, nature. At times, it is like inspiration finds me.
What are you working on right now that you are most excited about?
Tahitian pearls and leather, Native American blanket designs carved in metal, all things crystal.
Describe your perfect day.
Coffee with the hubs and dogs on the back porch, a hike, an amazing meal prepared by my husband with friends, lots of wine and a fire outside.
What song will be your soundtrack for spring?
My soundtracks do not vary from season to season. Fleetwood Mac, Eagles, Neil Young, Blake and Miranda, Black Keys. I am all over the board.
What is something most people don’t know about you?
I got my first tattoo on Saturday!
Is there anything else you would like to share with the Gypsies?
My third dog is named Gypsy, and TGW was on my vision board before I ever knew Carley. That’s a whole other story for another day. xo
